FROM TRAMWAYS TO URBAN RAILWAYS

The construction of urban railways operating primarily on tracks completely separated from other traffic and the introduction of urban rapid transit systems will improve conditions in city centres and conurbation areas. Vehicles for urban railways must satisfy exacting running and braking requirements. Priority must be given to safety and comfort. In recent years new equipment has been developed for this type of duty.
