PORT TALBOT HARBOUR. PLANNING AND DESIGN
The paper dexcribes how the need arose for a completely new harbor and ore terminal to be provided in the vicinity of the modern steelworks at Port Talbot in South Wales, to cater primarily for the accommodation of ore carrying vessels in the 100,000 dwt class and larger. The development of the siting, layout and design of the harbor works is traced, together with reference to the technical research studies associated with the project and the subsequent working out of the main features of the structural elements. An indication is given of the provision made for subsequent enlargment of harbor.
