Regional Alternative Transportation Evaluation Report – Region 4
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Volpe Center conducted a regional alternative transportation evaluation (RATE) in Region 4, which is comprised of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The RATE helps to ensure effective consideration and integration of alternative transportation systems into the goals and recommendations of the Region 4 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The Region 4 RATE also serves as a pilot for the integration of ATS into the National FWS LRTP and provides lessons on how ATS may be instituted more broadly across Region 4.
