Organization and Innovation in Air Traffic Control
This report uses case studies to investigate the breakdown of innovative actions in the American air traffic control system, and the true causes of that breakdown. Though airplane travel has been more reliable and safer in the last fifty years, our air traffic control system has not kept pace with those achievements. The U.S. air traffic control system is very outdated and lags behind existing communications and information technology capabilities seen in other industries. The report details the benefits of a modern and innovative air traffic control system and offers suggestions to reform the industry.
