EVALUATION OF RAILWAY DRAFT GEARS
Draft gear is a most important factor in economics of the railway freight car. By careful selection, one original investment can provide high efficiency for minimization of impact shock and full control of long trains at all speeds. The object is to provide an explanatory outline of the essential mechanical characteristics of railway draft gears, with particular reference to those designed for freight cars.
