Russian Relationships: Existing cooperation and future opportunities
The U.S. Coast Guard has collaborated with government agencies in Russia for many years. This collaboration has brought benefits in the areas of ship safety, maritime law enforcement, port security, fisheries enforcement, marine pollution response, merchant ship port state control, and search and rescue operations. These relationships and partnerships enhance the availability of and access to important resources and information by the Coast Guard, which decreases emergency response times and inordinate spending. This article discusses the partnerships with Russia, and how they benefit Arctic regions.
