PREDICCION DE LA CURVA CARACTERISTICA CON EL MODELO DE PROPORCIONALIDAD NATURAL

por los autores. De los resultados obtenidos se observo que el modelo propuesto se ajusta en forma adecuada a los datos de laboratorio. Tambien se llevaron a cabo comparaciones entre el modelo de proporcionalidad natural y otros modelos como el de Fredlund y Xing, el de Brooks y Corey y el de vanGenuchten, de lo cual se determino que los ajustes obtenidos con el modelo de proporcionalidad y el modelo de Fredlund y Xing son similares para los casos en donde los datos de laboratorio estan distribuidos de forma uniforme y en un rango amplio de valores de succion. Se incluyen conclusiones , recomendaciones, tablas y figuras. Abstract: The soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) is one of the most important relationships in the area of unsaturated soil mechanics, however, the equipments to develop such relationship are complex and the testing is time consuming. As a consequence several researchers put forward quite a few models to predict such relationship. Some of these models predict the SWCC in the whole range (0-1x106kPa) and others only in the low range of suction values. In this study the derivations to obtain the natural proportionality model applied to the soil water characteristic curve are presented. The verification of the model was done with experimental SWCCs gathered from published works and some obtained by the authors. The results showed that the natural proportionality model fits very well the laboratory data. In addition a comparison with other models such as Fredlund and Xing, Brooks and Corey and van Genuchten was also done. From this it was observed that the Fredlund and Xing and the natural proportionality models provide similar fitting curves when the laboratory data is well distributed and also measured or controlled in a wide range of suction values.
