SOME ASPECTS OF RESIN ANCHORED ROCK BOLTING
The function of any support system is to secure the structural competence of the excavation in which it is set. The use of bolting reinforcements for this purpose has gained in popularity in recent years and has advantages over standing supports such as rib girders or props and beams. However the mechanics of bolting in terms of providing a safe and efficient support, are as yet not fully understood. Existing theories advanced to explain the reinforcing action of rock bolts can be divided into four groups.
