PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT OF COPPER SLAG CONCRETE BY USE OF FLY ASH
Copper slag has not been generally used for concrete, as it increases bleeding, adversely affecting the strength and durability of hardened concrete. In this study, the use of fly ash for copper slag concrete was attempted from the standpoint of suppressing bleeding and effectively utilizing resources. The effects of copper slag and fly ash used in combination on the properties of concrete while fresh and after hardening were thus investigated. As a result, it was found that the use of copper slag increases large pores and the air-entraining and water-reducing admixture demand, but the use of fly ash in combination is effective in reducing the amount of bleeding water, improving the compressive strength development, and reducing the length change ratio. It was also found that selection of a rock type with a high fines content and the use of a thickener contribute to greater strength gains.
