EVALUATION OF PAVEMENT THERMAL PROPERTIES USING HEAT FLUX SENSOR
Temperature change in asphalt concrete affects not only its mechanical properties but the thermal environment of its surroundings. The factors that produce an effect on its temperature are thermal properties. It has been known that thermal diffusion can be estimated from temperature measurements at three different levels. However, utilization of heat flux may serve useful tool to estimate thermal properties, because the temperature change in asphalt composite is caused by heat flow. The objective of this study is examine whether thermal properties (heat capacity, thermal conductivity) can be estimated from two thermocouples and one heat flux sensor located between them.
