Shape Optimization of Engine Intake Port by Using Adjoint Method
To develop products that satisfy various demands for a limited period, shape optimization technology utilizing CAE has attracted rising attention. In this study, the authors develop an innovative shape optimization technology by using an adjoint method. This method serves to reduce computational costs and the difference in the quality of obtained shape, which are the problems of conventional shape optimization method. Present technology was applied to the design of the engine intake port. An optimized shape equivalent to conventional method was able to be obtained in several iterations.
