IMPROVEMENT OF WOODEN SLEEPERS BY THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE METHOD
In order to meet the demand for increasing service life of and unifying the quality of wooden sleepers, a high temperature and pressure treatment was investigated. The experimental results showed that the HTP-method with 100 degrees c and 20-25 kg/cm2 was one of the most effective and practical countermeasures to improve wooden sleepers under Japanese conditions. In the original papers, the results obtained by both of laboratory and mass-production tests performed are reported, and practical discussions and application are described.
