NEW METHODS OF EVALUATING PRACTICAL PROPERTIES OF PLASTICS
Several new methods for evaluating practical properties of plastics, for purpose of application to railway, are proposed. These are classified into three groups as shown below. (1) A photoelastic method for evaluating durability of plastics. (2) An apparatus for measuring various properties of plastics using C-shaped specimens. (3) Torsional methods for evaluating practical properties of plastics. Using a polycarbonate as model example, typical data are presented, showing the usefulness of these methods.
