Arctic Regulations: Rulemaking shapes expanded activity and protects the Arctic
The United States Coast Guard continues to protect natural resources in the Arctic, as well as enhance maritime mobility and safety, prevent maritime disasters and emergencies, and implement law enforcement activities in the region. It helps develop oil spill response regulation and policy in the Arctic region; establishes locations in Alaska's Nome, Kotzebue, Barrow and Prudhoe Bay areas to focus on fulfilling operational needs; and undertakes analysis of waterways to evaluate navigational needs.
