Virtual Tax Inspection using ITS Components
In Brazil the majority of cargo is transported by truck and with the increase in volume transported the fiscal audit of these products becomes difficult. The treasury department (SEFAZ) needs to seek new forms of audit through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). For this reason, the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is an important ally for SEFAZ because the ITS equipment such as scanners, cameras, scales, axle counters, among others allow the SEFAZ to conduct fiscal audit without stopping the truck or extensive use of auditors in the road. This article presents a case study that was developed with the SEFAZ to perform a virtual inspection of trucks using the existing ITS infrastructure available in the highways and private companies, such as: insurers, tracking and carriers, then its permit to make an easy and low cost deployment.
