An Empirical Analysis of V2I Communication in Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network Based on IEEE 802.11n
V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) Communication is an important type of data exchange mode in Cooperative Vehicle and Infrastructure System. A experiment environment of communication network of Cooperative Vehicle and Infrastructure is designed based on IEEE 802.11n and the communication distance of vehicular ad-hoc network between vehicle and infrastructure has been considered first. Then, the transmission modes of V2I in vehicular ad-hoc network have been studied. Especially the applicability of two basic transmission modes including direct transmission, multihop transmission have been discussed based on the IEEE 802.11n with the delay time and packet loss rate mattering the communication quality taken into consideration. At last, the communication quality of V2I on the mobile status with the relative speed from 10km/h to 80km/h between vehicle and roadside unit has been tested. Based on these experimental data, the IEEE 802.11n ad-hoc communication mode has been suggested for V2I communication in Cooperative Vehicle and Infrastructure System. More works to be finished in the near future are listed at the end.
