NATIONAL RAILROAD PASSENGER CORPORATION. REQUIEM OR RENAISSANCE
This article has indicated that rail patronage is a function of good service. Although it cannot be proven until tried, there are indications that restoration of attractive railroad passenger service would achieve the goal of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation-to transport persons in sufficient quantity such that we no longer are dependent upon automobile and air transportation. What society must decide in the 1970's is how much, in view of its previous commitment to highway and air transport, it is willing to spend on the possibility of such a development's becoming a reality.
