NOTAM manager self-certification process adds benefits to airports
Airport operations staff and the Federal Aviation Administration have increasingly relied on Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) to improve safety through communication with aircraft operators. NOTAMs are now sent electronically (as opposed to phoning or faxing) through the NOTAM Manager System, which directly publishes NOTAMs created by airport personnel without delays that can occur with third party publication. A web-based self-certification process is now presenting the opportunity for many more airports to utilize NOTAM Manager, as detailed in this article. Spokane International Airport test-piloted the self-certification process, and the results are presented here.
