Route Search System Using Real-Time Information

Real-time road traffic information is extremely useful in a variety of aspects. In particular, by using real-time information with a route search function, the optimum route can be searched for according to ever-changing traffic conditions. Real-time information can be generated by collecting and processing floating car data and other information, but such a system must satisfy performance and operational requirements as it would handle an enormous amount of information. The authors built a system that satisfies these requirements and handles an enormous amount of information flexibly by adopting cloud computing technology. With the aim of expanding the application of route searches, the authors also came up with route search technology in the system that takes into account real-time information held by private businesses and organizations. This route search function can search for optimum routes that take into account efficiency, safety, and other factors that businesses or organizations think important, and usefulness of this route search function is expected to be improved.
