Impact of Surcharge Loads on High-Speed Railway Bridge Piles in Soft Soil Areas and Effects of Rectifying Deviation

As a common problem in engineering, surcharge loads have a considerable impact on the foundation of adjacent buildings and structures. In a certain section of a high-speed railway in soft soil areas, the horizontal deviation of several bridge piers is found because of the large-area surcharge loads nearby. To analyze the influence of surcharge loads on these bridge piles, this paper computes the horizontal displacement and bending moment of piles by the method of elastic foundation reaction (i.e. m method) and numerical simulation based on the project case. The computed results of m method indicate that the maximum horizontal displacement of pile is situated at the bottom of cushion cap and the maximum bending moment appears 5m below, while these maximum indicators of pile are observed 15m below the cushion cap in the numerical simulation. The numerical analysis also shows that the horizontal displacement and bending moment of the pile that is closest to surcharge loads is greater than those of other piles. Additionally, some measures like unloading and driving high-pressure jet grouting piles are taken to rectify deviation. The numerical simulation shows that, after rectifying deviation, the maximum bending moment of pile top reduces by 20% and the maximum horizontal displacement and bending moment of pile shaft decreases by more than 50%, which has a positive effect on rectifying deviation.
