Urban Rail Transit Station Automatic Fare Collection Configuration Research and Simulation

Automatic fare collection (AFC) is the bottleneck of subway passenger stations. Optimal allocation of the number of gates determines the quality of service at the bottleneck. The existing study, which is led by Metro Design, hasn't taken enough consideration into the randomness of passenger arrival and service time, leading to the inaccuracy of the AFC configuration. This paper is based on the premise of considering the randomness in service time and passenger arrival, in the course of data collection survey; data fitting using MATLAB software; establishing the simulation model and optimizing the experiment by Anylogic software; bring the optimal configuration attained by the optimization experiment and the real configuration into the simulation model; comparing their queue length and the mean time spent in this system; and then finding that this experiment can direct the decision makers to optimize the configuration of the AFC effectively.
