Primary Discussion on Anti-Seismic Performance Level of Urban Viaduct
One of the difficulties of performance-based seismic design method is the research on performance level. It is comprised pf three aspects, (1) division on anti- seismic performance level, namely the choice of performance index and how many level will be used; (2) the performance index that is used to describe the structure performance; (3) The relationship between the performance index and performance level. The conventional urban viaduct is studied in this article. Its performance level is divided into five levels. They are: complete, basic complete, light damage, moderate damage, and serious damage. The damage index is used as the performance index which expressed by the displacement ductility coefficient of the bridge pier top. The quantification relationship is established between the performance level to damage index which expressed by displacement ductility coefficient that started from the concrete compression strain and steel tension strain in difference performance level. The research of this article may provide the reference to performance-based seismic design of the conventional urban viaduct.
