1973 MARKS BELGIUM RAILWAYS FIRST DECADE OF DIESEL TRACTION
The rational approach of SNCB embraces three types of mainline locomotives and the general adoption of hydraulic transmission for shunting duties. Conservatively rated Belgium-built diesel engines developed under licence agreements augmented by some quick-running German engines for some of its shunters has formed the basis of its policy.
