Exploring GPS-based Vehicle Probe Data for Road Traffic Estimation
In this paper, the authors improved global positioning system (GPS)-based Vehicle Probe (GVP) system which collects the real-time GPS data gathered by commercial fleet systems and efficiently derives bi-directional traffic road speed in the metropolises of Taiwan. Therefore, the system will get more accurate speed results and better system performance. The authors provide real-time road speed information and traffic status to public crowd through intelligent transportation system (ITS) information dissemination platform such as Traffic Information Website and Traffic Information Android App.
