Bench Test of Hot Declining on Eddy Current Retarder
Braking torque is influenced by parameters of eddy current retarder, changes value of current and temperature and braking torque were determined through hot declining tests of B5-12 and M5-19 eddy current retarder, Got curves on temperature, current and braking torque with time changing. These curves show that braking torque is not proportional to rotational speed. System will keep hot equilibrium with braking torque declining to some certain value, The smaller air gap and the higher speed, the more obvious hot declining. Above results may provide some reference for the establishment of retarder braking torque's computational formula and hot decline theory.
