Special Applications and Innovative Aspects in a Nation-wide Motorway Video-System
The major use of the ASFINAG video surveillance system is live monitoring in the context of traffic management and event handling. However, several special needs emerged over time, where the video system - complemented with innovative aspects - provides solutions to them. In the present paper selected applications ranging from snow clearance service, security related topics to traffic management needs are described, together with a technical overview of the solution provided within the video-system. These solutions incorporate thermal-cameras, video- and audio-based incident detection, and other technological aspects. A summary concludes the present work.
