A Regulatory "Look Back": Retrospective review of DHS regulations
A recently issued Executive Order (13563) instructed federal agencies to create a plan to review their existing regulations on a periodic basis. Therefore, the U.S. Coast Guard, as one component agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, had to develop and implement a plan that would retrospectively review the existing regulations and also allow them to look into past years and ascertain what regulations they should keep, amend, or discard. This article describes the procedures undertaken to fulfill the executive order.
