COMPARISON OF BRIDGE BACKWATER RELATIONS
A previously developed subcritical (submerged) flow analysis for open channel constrictions has been shown to be generally applicable to computing backwater due to bridges, whether the flow prior to bridge placement is uniform or nonuniform (abnormal stage-discharge condition). Existing backwater equations have been shown to fit the subcritical flow anlaysis.
