LARGE-SCALE TRIAL OF AN INTEGRATED TRANSPORT CONTROL SYSTEM WITH THE GERMAN FEDERAL RAILWAY

The trials concerned with transport control and commercial transactions in the Hanover area are designed to try out, for purposes of operation and decision-making, the control by means of computers of all transport process from the acceptance of a consignment to its delivery to the consignee. The trials include the control of train trips, shunting movements and the movement of parcels, including the data required for the corresponding commercial transactions. With all movement processes, the continuous synchronization of the actual movements of goods and vehicles with the flow of data within the electronic data processing plant permits the making of optimum decisions based on real-time data and the timely issuing of precise control instructions.
