Bus Priority by GPS-detection: City of Copenhagen

The City of Copenhagen is committed to the vision of being the World’s first carbon dioxide(CO2) neutral Capital by 2025. To realize this vision innovative approaches as well as huge investments in developing the infrastructure of the city are needed. This paper discusses the experiences of the City of Copenhagen to deploy GPS-technology for bus priority and regularity. The system provides a number of advantages in comparison with traditions solutions such as loops in the pavement. Further the paper discusses various options for developing more stable and more effective solutions in the future.
