Practical Implementation of EETS

The joint EFC toll collection service in Scandinavia for vehicles equipped with OBEs, called EasyGo, and the national toll collection service of Austria are preparing the implementation of a common tolling service for heavy vehicles. In addition to new a commerical service aimed at the transport industry, the parties want to demonstrate interoperable tolling between regions in Europe within the framework defined by the EFC Directive and the EETS Decision. The existing operation of EasyGo and ASFINA including more than 50 Toll Chargers and two million users will therefore be upgraded to fulfill the requirements of EETS. The project leading up to the introduction of service is named CREATE (Charging Road users in EasyGo and ASFINAG Towards EETS) and includes revisions of contractual agreements, harmonising operational procedures, updating administrative systems and road side equipment as well introducing a new generation of on board equipment. The new service EasyGo+ will be available to users in 2013.
