DEVELOPMENT OF DREDGING TECHNIQUES
The inventions which led to the development of the principal types of dredges in modern use are outlined together with methods of operation, capabilities and advantages, capital, running and unit costs. Some indication is given of the problems which confronted the dredging industry as a result of the rapid revolution in shipbuilding practice and the need to deepen the sea approaches of established ports for every large bulk carriers.
