Incorporation of the HCM2010 Trajectory Analysis in CORSIM
Chapters 7 and 24 of the 2010 Highway Capacity Manual propose trajectory analysis procedures by which consistent performance measures can be estimated, and promote uniformity of reporting among different simulation tools. These procedures have the potential to improve acceptance of simulation tools for highway capacity and level-of-service analysis. HCM2010 trajectory analysis procedures were recently implemented within the TSIS-CORSIM software package, producing the “vehicle trajectory dashboard” feature. This paper examines the results of that software development effort; including a comparison of HCM-based CORSIM results versus original CORSIM results, plus recommendations for future trajectory analysis.
