CONSEQUENCES OF AUTOMATION IN CONTAINER TRANSSHIPMENT-STACKER CRANES IN THE FUTURE
AUROMATISSIERUNG DES CONTAINER-UMSCHLAGS. IN ZUKUNFT: STAPELKRANE
The more and more increasing container traffic calls for new transshipment methods at seaport terminals. The author considers the stacker crane as the most important link in handling containers at terminals. Starting with ship-loaders to intermediate stacking and loading on trucks, wagons or rivergoing ships, the stacker crane will help to speed up work, save personnel, and permit extensive automation. Following the various requirements made on stacker cranes and their technical data, the author explains in detail the newly patented anti-sway system and its functions.
