PROBLEMS OF LOADS DUE TO SEA SWELLS TRANSMITTED TO A FLOATING CRANE BY LOAD-LIFTING ROPES

Equations are derived which determine maximum loads transmitted to the load-lifting zones during the load pickup by a floating crane of the crane pontoon. The results obtained allow the determination of the most favorable initial conditions of the load pickup which can be obtained by the automatic control of the windlass and which preclude the overstressing of the ropes beyond the limits established for a smooth sea operation.
