Comparison of Safety Requirements in Quadricycles and Cars

This study focused on the risk assessment and review of European Union safety directives relating to quadricycles, tricycles, and passenger cars. It conducted an initial, and then more detailed, review of safety performance of quadricycles. In those cases where the safety standards were quite high, it was deemed difficult for quadricycles to comply with the higher standards. It was also found that many manufacturers of quadricycles provide much higher safety levels than the minimum safety laws require, especially in the area of accident safety. In addition, it seems that the safety requirements of the M1 Directive that are the most challenging for manufacturers to meet are those involved with lateral and front impact tests.
