Game Changer
This article presents a case study of the CIra Centre South project in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The new development aims to establish a strong commercial presence in order to generate economic development and encourage revitalization in the city, as well as to enhance the connection between University City and the rest of Philadelphia. The article highlights the plans for the development project, which include the addition of two high-rise buildings with office and retail space. Also described is the project's 1,660-space mixed use parking facility, which includes a number of sustainable design elements and will accommodate future parking needs. The authors outline design and construction challenges faced during development of the parking garage, and they also discuss efforts to develop a secure pedestrian walkway that connects the parking facility to the street.
