Green Urban Mobility Enhanced by Copenhagen’s New ITS Partnership
The City of Copenhagen (Denmark) aims at being the first carbon dioxide (CO2) neutral Capital in the World by 2025. The City Council has taken important steps towards achieving this. As the transport sector counts for approximately 22% of the total amount of all carbon emissions, inevitably, the transport sector must contribute to the CO2 reduction. A recent tender for ITS and traffic signals opens new opportunities for reaching the goal through innovative cooperation between public sector and private industry. The paper will reveal some of the discussions behind the choices made by the City of Copenhagen in this tender awarded to Peek Traffic - Imtech ITS.
