50-KNOT HYDROFOILS WE COULD START BUILDING TODAY
Performance and design characteristics of hydrofoils are reviewed. The author presents a three-phase long-range program for implementation of hydrofoil deployment. This would involve immediate production of multiple unit fleet combat hydrofoils to permit their evaluation and the evolution of logistics and tactical doctrines suitable for the large corvette size vessels produced in the last phase, following extensive R & D in control hydraulics and high-lift devices.
