THEORY OF THE DC CIRCUIT OF SUBWAYS
THEORIE DES GLEICHSTROMKREISES DER U-BAHNEN
The third rail of subways registers a three-times higher load near the dc station than the remainder of the rail. It is shown how this loading can be equalized by shifting the distribution point. It is then possible to increase the resistance of the third rail while maintaining the contact voltage at 240 v at half expenses.
