Real-time monitoring of railway traffic using slope-assisted Brillouin distributed sensors
In this paper, the authors present a strategy for monitoring railway traffic by applying a Brillouin distributed sensor. Conducing a field test on the Italian regional line San Severo-Peschici with a single-mode optical fiber sensor, they gathered data that demonstrated the sensor's ability to retrieve information in railway traffic monitoring. Such information includes train identification, axle counting, speed detection, and dynamic load calculation.
