NEW DESIGN FOR P-S HOPPER FAMILY
The roof of the Pullman-Standard hopper car has a new shape. Formed in combination step-curved arch, the re-engineered roof is said to be capable of withstanding vibration and other in-use stresses better than earlier P-S roof designs. The curved portion of the roof can stand up to the shear loads while the step portions provide the necessary resistance to the vertical forces.
