With Asphalt, the Road Ahead is Green
Due to sustainable practices in the asphalt pavement industry, taxpayers saved more than $2.2 billion during the 2011 paving season. Warm mix asphalt allows for reusable liquid asphalt, saving costs and preserving natural resources. It is one of the main reasons why the industry has been able to adopt sustainable measures. In 2011, 66.7 million tons of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) were put to use in new pavements with more stored for later use. With an upward progression in recycled asphalt over the years, the U.S. will see a more sustainable future.
