Newly developed simple railway timetable evaluation program Sujic with the new model to deal with re-scheduling
Sujic is a train schedule evaluation program developed in 1988. Its purpose is to assess train schedules for passenger trains, and aid in the automation of generating railroad timetables. It's been found, over the years, that the program is slow and memory intensive, due to an inadequate implementation of path search algorithms. This paper describes the use of a modified Dijkstra algorithm with the Sujic program. It focuses on re-scheduling, which is somewhat different from scheduling, because the variable of passenger expectation has to be included. Multiple schedules are used in one evaluation, in order to deal with passenger expectations in train re-scheduling.
