A LABORATORY STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF DELAYED COMPACTION ON THE STRENGTH OF SOIL-LIME MIXES
THE EFFECT OF DELAYED COMPACTION ON THE LIME STABILIZATION OF SOIL OCCURRING IN NORTHERN INDIA HAS BEEN STUDIED. THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF THE SPECIMENS COMPACTED TO 95% OF LABORATORY PROCTOR DENSITY WITH A DELAY PERIOD RANGING FROM 2 TO 48 HOURS WAS DETERMINED. THE EFFECT OF CURING PERIOD VARYING FROM 10-40 DAYS WAS ALSO STUDIED. IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF THE SOIL-LIME MIXES DECREASES WITH THE INCREASE IN THE DELAYED COMPACTION. IT HAS ALSO BEEN FOUND THAT A SMALL CONCENTRATION OF LIME SUCH AS 1% UNDER THE CONDITIONS FOLLOWED IN THE STUDY WAS INADEQUATE. /AUTHOR/
