HIGH POWER FORCES ADVANCES IN LUBE OIL TECHNOLOGY

Lubricating oil technology has had to advance rapidly in the past decade to keep pace with changes in railroad diesel engines. In rapid order, as the horsepower ratings of two-cycle and four-cycle engines were stepped up, deficiencies which became evident in engine lubrication had to be countered with changes in the oils being supplied. the results have been First Generation, Second Generation, Two-and-a-Half Generation, and Third Generation lubricating oils.
