A fault diagnosis approach for railway track circuits trimming capacitors using EMD and Teager Energy Operator
An important part of the track circuit used for train detection in railroad control systems is called the trimming capacitor. Trimming capacitors should be monitored frequently enough to ensure their availability and dependability. This paper discusses a diagnostic approach to trimming capacitors. The approach is based on Teager Energy Operator (TEO) theory and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). Experiments from simulated data have shown that these approaches can effectively identify and detect multiple defects.
