Interpretation and Application of Repeated Torsional Shear Test on Asphalt Mixtures
In this paper, repeated torsional shear tests were carried out on the cylindrical specimens of three different types of asphalt mixtures, polymer-modified dense-graded asphalt, dense-graded straight-asphalt and polymer-modified porous asphalt mixtures. Based on the results, plastic flow resistance, the tenacity from stripping initiation up to rupture and durability (the number of repetitions to reach a certain shear strain level), etc. were evaluated in a comparative manner. It is shown that the polymer-modified dense-graded asphalt mix exhibited the highest in the plastic flow resistance, the tenacity from stripping initiation up to rupture and the durability.
