TRANSVERSE STRENGTH ANALYSIS FOR OIL TANKERS AND ORE CARRIERS BY THREE DIMENSIONAL FRAMED STRUCTURE
VLCC and large ore carriers require extensive strength analysis of the transverse structure. Computers have been programmed to the finite element method and framed analysis method to help the designer. These methods have been developed further in a computer program specially prepared for a ship hull structure. The calculation method used in this program is a strength analysis of hull structure known as the transverse ring structure. This calculation method has proved satsifactory for practical use in ship design and shortened computer use time.
