STEELS, FILLER METALS AND WELDING PROCESSES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF LARGE VESSELS

STAEHLE, SCHWEISSZUSATZWERKSTOFFE UND SCHWEISSVERFAHREN FUER DEN BAU VON GROSSEN SCHIFFEN

Increased requirements imposed on the properties of steels and filler metals to be used in the construction of tankers, container vessels, and icebreakers are discussed. New problems arising as the result of using high-strength steels, welding of these steels and steels with low pearlite content are considered. The behavior of construction steels subjected to arctic stresses is also examined.
